GosuGamers profile Alliance

Alliance is a Swedish professional Dota 2 team which was founded in September 2012 under the name of NoTidehunter. They're The International 2013 winners who have dominated in 2013 through the Dota 2 scene both at West and East, leaving many big teams behind them. The team is composed of the Swedish players, among which are some true legends of the DotA such as Loda and Akke, but the newcomers, s4, AdmiralBulldog and EGM, which have managed to leave a deep trail and make a name for themselves in the competitive scene since their first appearance in the Alliance roster.

Team History

The creation of the team and NoTidehunter era

NoTidehunter line up

Alliance team was formed on April 12th when NoTidehunter squad was picked up by this organization.[1] NoTidehunter was founded in September 2012 by EternaLEnVy and s4. The original roster consisted of EternaLEnVy C, Black^, s4, AdmiralBulldog and kizzles. Just a few days later those guys managed to win their very first tournament - The Revenge #1. This success was followed in October with several other results as well. First, they managed to take first place in ESWC West Qualifier by winning over Russian team Moscow 5 in the semi and Evil Geniuses in the grand finals. On October 29th, it was officially announced that Loda and Akke will be joining the NoTidehunter line up, replacing kizzles and Black^ who was returning to Mousesports. When everything was looking perfect for the team on February 22nd it came as a big surprise news that Canadian player and captain of the team EternaLEnVy was dropped[2] from the team and they started looking for a Swedish replacement. Only a few days later, the team has already found a replacement in Jerry 'EGM' Lundkvist, who was a tryout at QPad Red Pandas team.[3] On April 8th, at the first LAN event for this line up which was StarLadder #5, NoTidehunter has managed to win.[4] As a result only four days later on April 12th they got picked up by Alliance.

Jonathan 'Loda' Berg's statement:

"We are extremely happy to be a part of the birth of Alliance. We are proud to be a part of something new. We strive for perfection, and with the support from our sponsor, Razer, this will be a great organization."

A 2013 Year and The International 3

Alliance TI 3 winners

A first tournament under Alliance tag wasn't really a big success. They didn't managed to pass through Quarter Finals of RaidCall EMS One where they've lost to Mousesports with the score of 2-1. This left them at 5-8th place with $2,000 prize. However, this probably was only due condition that the team was still 'warming up'. Since then, Alliance has won 8 tournaments in a row, including also The International 3. Events which they've run through were G-1 WEST Qualifier, The Premier League Season 4, WePlay League #1, G-1 League 2013, DH Summer 2013, StarLadder Season 6, The Premier League Season 5 and the biggest one, The International 2013.

Alliance was placed in group B at The International 3 with seven other teams. After the group phase they've finished at the first place of this group with the perfect score of 14-0, they were the only undefeated team during this phase of the tournament.[5] Playoffs kicked off with the Alliance at the Upper Bracket. First, they've beaten LGD with 2-0, then the next opponent was Team DK who has actually managed to win 1 map out of 3 against Swedish team, but the final result was 2-1 for Alliance.[6] In the Upper Bracket Finals they've met title defenders, Natus Vincere. Ukranians also have fallen to them with 2-0 and Alliance was in the Grand Finals of the most prestigious tournament in Dota 2 world.[7] The Grand finals were really tight, however Alliance has managed to come on the top with the 3-2 result and prize of $1,437,204 in their pockets.[8] Alliance had big fan base prior to this event, but probably none of them could predict that their favorite team could win this event in a such fashion.

After The International team has lay down a bit, they didn't win any tournament until the end of the year, however they were runner ups in 2 events (StarLadder Season 7 and WePlay Season 2) and they were 2-time third placers (DreamLeague Kick-off Season and RaidCall EMS One Fall).
